![]() ![]() If you want to buy games on Oculus Home and possibly be stick within their ecosystem, that's your prerogative. I don't see why you think anyone should ignore that fact? Consumers should always have choice, and Oculus Home don't support choice. Oculus has broken access to Oculus Home in the past. It doesn't guarantee Oculus will let you on their store in the first place. It only guarantees that other devices will work with those games. OpenXR doesn't guarantee that all hardware will be first party supported on Oculus Home. When buying from Steam you get two versions of this game, one for SteamVR (VIVE) and one for Oculus with great support for the touch controller (See video below for a demonstration). The entire discussion is about someone recommending people to buy the game on Steam because Oculus Home may not support their next headset. Oculus Home is what we are talking about here. Is about the industry migrating to an open standard, and that is a current fact, since open xr is the only standard they are working on for the future. Is not about who is wrong (which was oculus vr). Oculus studio will always try to make exclusives for oculus (as long as they can), just like Valve makes PC exclusives (which is their bussiness). You are confusing between oculus vr and oculus studio. Originally posted by Ruiner:Wake me up when they officially support other devices. There's no guarantees they won't close access to these titles in the future. Oculus Home only officially supports the Rift. SteamVR supports HTC Vive, Oculus Rift, Samsung Gear, Pimax 4K, upcoming Pimax 5K and 8K, the upcoming Windows HMDs (Acer/Asus/HP/Lenovo/Dell etc.), the upcoming LG HMD and Valve have said they are working with other manufacturers. They have deliberately broken ReVive in the past, there's no guarantee they won't do it again. Oculus are not officially supporting any HMDs other than their own. If you buy the Oculus version you´ll need only the Oculus browser open, which in some cases gives more stability. It´s true Oculus system is closed right now, but projecting that to future VR systems is not knowing what is going on with the industry.Īnyway, Steam is a better Game manager in general, but you´ ll need to have both game browsers open in order to play. ![]() Oculus VR software is a closed system, meaning you'll have to rely on 3rd party software to play oculus games. Just in case you decide to buy a different branded VR headset in the future. Originally posted by Irish:I would avoid buying from oculus store.
